Matric Results

2017

The Union High School Class of 2017 achieved a 100% pass rate in the National Senior Certificate Examinations. The Headmaster and staff are proud and humbled by the excellent performance of our learners. All 51 candidates passed successfully, achieving 34 Bachelor Passes (67%), 15 Diploma passes and 2 Higher Certificate passes.

Five candidates achieved A-aggregate passes. The top performer was Anje Oelofsen with 6 distinctions (in photo:  Mr Pringle, Mr Oelofsen, Mrs Oelofsen, Anje Oelofsen and Mrs Gedult), Amy Chaplin was placed second, with 7 subject distinctions, Kerrin Kingwill was placed third, with 6 subject distinctions, Gerrit Brink was placed fourth, with 6 subject distinctions and Timony Miller was placed fifth, with 4 subject distinctions.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to these results. Hats off to our learners, parents, all educators and the community at large who played a part in the excellent performance of our learners.
In total, the class achieved 53 Subject Distinctions.

2016

The average pass rate acquired by Union High School Class of 2016 is 93,8%. 65 learners wrote the NCS examination in 2016. Four learners did not meet the promotion requirements.
Wendy-Lee Scott achieved an overall A-aggregate with 3 distinctions.
Ann-Marie Rossouw passed her examinations with 3 distinctions.
The following learners achieved 2 distinctions: Kayla Hobson, Roche-Lynne Japhta and Amy Lee Kroon.
The following learners achieved 1 distinction: Rezayda Baartman, Lukhona Dibi, Ricardo Filander, Jade Hanbidge, Mikyla Langeveldt, Kyla van Staden and Zoe Kalebe-Mwanza.
27 learners passed with admission to Bachelor’s Degree studies. A further 29 learners passed with admission to Diploma Studies and 4 learners passed with admission to Certificate Studies.
We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to all stakeholders who supported the school and learners throughout their schooling career. Hats-off to a set of excellent educators, who under guidance of the headmaster, do their utmost best to prepare these learners to fulfil their roles and responsibilities in society as a whole. As a school community we celebrate and embrace the fine performance of our products.

2015

In November 2015, 61 learners at Union High School wrote the NSC Examination. An average of 97% pass rate has been achieved by the class of 2015.
59 Passed the NSC Examination
2 learners failed the Examination
One learner failed, English Home Language, Afrikaans EAT and Life Sciences.
The other failed Geography and Life Sciences.
34 Learners Passed with Admission to Bachelors’ Degree Studies
22 Learners qualified for Diploma Studies
3 Learners passed enabling them to do Certificate Studies
In total 56 A- subject aggregates have been acquired by the class of 2015
Union High School produced four top performers in 2015, namely
1. Michelle Jones ( top in her class) with an average of 91,7%.She achieved distinctions in English Home Language, Afrikaans EAT, Mathematics, Life Orientation, Accounting, Business Studies and Tourism
2. Brian Welman with an average of 88,1%, distinctions in English Home Language, Mathematics, Life Orientation, Accounting, Life Sciences and Physical Sciences.
3. Louvaine Williams with an average of 84,14%, distinctions in English Home Language, Afrikaans EAT, Life Orientation, Accounting, Business Studies and Life Sciences
4. Zipho Mnqatu with an average of 80,7%, distinctions in Afrikaans EAT, Life Orientation, Accounting and Life Science.
We would like to congratulate the above-mentioned learners, their parents and educators, as well as Union High School class of 2015 in general with outstanding results.

2014

The Union High School class of 2014 achieved a 96% pass rate, with two candidates out of 51 not meeting the requirements to pass. 30 out of 51 met the criteria to enter university (60%). One candidate, Monique Heunis ( 6 A's) achieved an A aggregate. There were 30 subject distinctions overall. So congratulations to all staff for the part that you played in preparing the matrics for their final examinations.


2013

The Union High School 2013 Grade 12 class achieved a 98.27% pass rate, with only one candidate out of 58 not meeting the requirements to pass. 38 out of 58 met the criteria to enter university (66%) for a Bachelor Degree. Two candidates, Courtney Shell (6 A's) and Nadine Kriel (5 A's) achieved A aggregates. There were 32 subject distinctions overall. So congratulations to all staff for the part that they played in preparing the matrics for their final examinations. Particular congratulations go to Mrs Wynford for the 6 "A" aggregates achieved by her Afrikaans candidates and Mr Sullivan whose Life Orientation learners achieved 13 "A" aggregates.

2012

In 2012, There were 35 subject A's and Kirsten Charles was also placed first in the Graaff-Reinet District, attaining six A's and a B, and received a bursary and cash reward. Another two of our matrics, Christie Putter and Laszlo Maya achieved A aggregates in their final examinations. 50% of all the matrics candidates attained entrance into university to study for bachelors degrees. Such a matric is possible at a country school. "In terms of academic results, we achieve exceptional percentages," says William Pringle, Headmaster of the high school.
