Dear parents & guardians,
𝗣𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝗮 𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻, 𝗠𝗿 𝗞𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗶𝗻 𝗞𝗮𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗼𝘄:
“As the 2021 academic year draws to a close, we are, as always, extremely grateful to our Headmaster, Mr. W.E. Pringle and the Union High School staff.
The commitment and determination of our teachers and non-teaching staff ensured successful navigation of the school’s affairs amidst many challenges in the education sector, but also in our day-to-day lives.
Whilst the scale of the Covid-19 pandemic amplified, our staff remained steadfast and they excelled under difficult circumstances.
With the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the resolve of our school has been tested to the limit, but the Union community saw it through and performed marvellously in trying circumstances.
In line with our commitment to quality education, Union continued teaching on online platforms during the lockdown period, and was the first school in the region to resume normal in-person classes for all our grades.
The new members of the school’s Governing Body were inducted approximately four months later than expected, but each member has taken to his/her portfolio with excitement and enthusiasm. We are certainly blessed to have a team of governors with a wealth of skills, qualities and dedication that will benefit the school immensely. In the limited time up to the present, the SGB has tackled several exciting and ground-breaking projects.
The governors and staff have a shared view of keeping Union at the cutting edge of advancement, staff development, modern education methods and superior facilities/equipment, with particular emphasis being placed on language literacy, science and mathematics.
With the generous support of a corporate sponsor, we are in a position to invest in advanced staff enrichment, classroom modernisation, hi-tech wireless connectivity and the like.
𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘁 𝘂𝘀.
We also owe our gratitude to you as parents and guardians. Parents make up a very important component of the Union family. Without your support and resilience, Union would have faced an uphill battle to keep the ship afloat. You have shown that the hardship faced by society did not deter you from giving your child the support needed to get the best education in our region. The school is dependent on our parents and guardians to achieve success in its mandate to provide quality education.
We would, therefore, like to encourage all parents to remain closely involved with your child’s education and we will always welcome your inputs and suggestions.
As we all prepare to take time out to recharge our batteries, we would like to wish you all a peaceful and blessed festive season with your loved ones.
Be safe and be kind.”
