Congratulations Arno!

๐—–๐—ข๐—ก๐—š๐—ฅ๐—”๐—ง๐—จ๐—Ÿ๐—”๐—ง๐—œ๐—ข๐—ก๐—ฆ to Union learner ๐—”๐—ฟ๐—ป๐—ผ ๐—ก๐—ฒ๐—น๐—น who was one of 50 talented young vocalists to be selected from hundreds of online entries, to participate in the second season of the โ€œ๐˜๐˜ฏ ๐˜“๐˜ฆ๐˜ธ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆ ๐˜“๐˜บ๐˜ธ๐˜ฆโ€ television series.

From these 50 contestants, Arno was selected as one of the ๐—ง๐—ข๐—ฃ ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿฑ, who had to then perform in front of a live audience on Wednesday, 19 April.

Junior EP Endurance Riding

This past Friday and Saturday, 21 and 22 April, saw Union High School, Graaff-Reinet Grade 9 learner ๐—ง๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐˜€๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐—›๐—ผ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ participate in the annual Willowmore Endurance Ride, during which he rode a total of 160km over the course of the two days!

The event saw Tristan complete his horse Madeevaโ€™s first 80km Novice Ride in the required speed, bringing her closer to competition level.

He also completed his horse Sniperโ€™s 5th 80km race on a technical course in a time of 4 hours and 28 minutes (17.9km/h) – Springbok qualifying time โ€“ coming in 4th among the Juniors.

This past weekendโ€™s competition also served as excellent preparation for the annual ๐—ฆ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐˜๐—ต ๐—”๐—ณ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐—œ๐—ป๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—น ๐—–๐—ผ๐—บ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐˜๐—ถ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐—˜๐—ป๐—ฑ๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ฒ ๐—ฅ๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด (๐—ฆ๐—”๐—œ๐—–), where SA will compete against Namibia, to be hosted from 22 to 26 May at Louvain, near George. This is also an inter-provincial competition where the various provinces will be competing against each other over the 120km race.

Tristan has been selected to represent the Junior Eastern Cape Endurance Riding Team while competing in the 120km Endurance Race. ๐—ช๐—˜๐—Ÿ๐—Ÿ ๐——๐—ข๐—ก๐—˜, Tristan!

Weโ€™d like to give a special ๐—ฆ๐—›๐—ข๐—จ๐—ง ๐—ข๐—จ๐—ง to Union High School, Graaff-Reinet Grade 9 boarder ๐—ฅ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐—˜๐˜„๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€ who, on Wednesday afternoon, 19 April, went beyond the average citizenโ€™s call of duty!

During their weekly outing to town, Ronan and his fellow boarders were standing outside a grocery store in Graaff-Reinet, when he heard a commotion and then spotted a suspected shoplifter fleeing past them.

Without hesitation, Ronan chased the shoplifter down and apprehended him.

The art of fine dining was beautifully demonstrated and the learners’ eyes opened to the stressful – but rewarding – career of cheffing.

The AdMaths programme is a national maths enrichment programme aimed at supplementing the curriculum to help prepare learners for university first year maths. It is of great help to those who want to pursue a career in maths, engineering, actuarial science, technology or related fields.
