This past Saturday, 24 February, Union High School, Graaff-Reinet’s junior cricketers travelled to Komani to compete against Laerskool Hangklip Primary.
In the 𝘂/𝟭𝟭𝗔 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺’𝘀 match, Union won the toss and decided to bat first.
𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘰𝘯’𝘴 𝘣𝘢𝘵𝘴𝘮𝘦𝘯 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺𝘦𝘥 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬, 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘣𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘮’𝘴 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘴𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘧 144.
Hangklip, despite losing an early wicket, managed to build a strong partnership that kept them in the game. Union’s bowlers, however, showcased patience and discipline, ultimately restricting Hangklip to 132 runs in their allotted 35 overs.
𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙜𝙚𝙙 𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙗𝙮 𝙖 𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙜𝙞𝙣 𝙤𝙛 12 𝙧𝙪𝙣𝙨.
In the 𝘂/𝟭𝟯𝗔 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺’𝘀 match, Union won the toss and opted to bat first.
Initially, Union seemed to be in a strong position at 109-4. However, a sudden collapse saw them lose 6 wickets for just 8 runs, resulting in a total score of 117 before being bowled out.
Hangklip’s batting innings began with a fantastic start, reaching 45 runs without any loss. 𝘏𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳, 𝘑𝘰𝘶𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘵 𝘝𝘰𝘳𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳’𝘴 𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘶𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘥.

Joubert Vorster showcased his exceptional form by claiming 4 wickets for 16 runs, while Aidan Ferreira contributed significantly with 5 wickets for 29 runs.
