Last week, at the start of the March school holiday, the Union Schools’ u/11A rugby team took part in the annual 𝗔𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗛𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘆 & 𝗥𝘂𝗴𝗯𝘆 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 hosted by Clarendon Park Primary School in Gqeberha.
𝘈𝘭𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘮 𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘴𝘦𝘵𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘊𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘯, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘭𝘺 𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘱𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸𝘤𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘥𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘣𝘺 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴, 𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘸𝘰 𝘥𝘳𝘢𝘸𝘴, 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘴.
The team’s resilience was clearly evident as they bounced back from the initial loss, gaining confidence and building strong cohesion, which ultimately led to improved performances throughout the festival.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱-𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝘀: a challenging 29-5 loss against Clarendon, convincing wins of 14-0 against CPPS invitation and 24-7 against Summerwood, hard-fought draws of 7-7 against Herbert Hurd and 12-12 against Charlo, and a narrow, but well-deserved, 12-10 victory over Lillyfontein.
