Union High School, Graaff-Reinet’s u/13A rugby team enjoyed an eventful tour to Durban to attend the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝗗𝗛𝗦 𝘂/𝟭𝟯𝗔 𝗥𝘂𝗴𝗯𝘆 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹.
They faced a tough loss against Penzance on Day 1 of the festival (Monday, 18 March), but quickly turned things around the next day by defeating Glenwood Preparatory’s u/13B side 17-10. 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘎𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘸𝘰𝘰𝘥, 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘧𝘦𝘢𝘵.
The team experienced a setback in the afternoon game, losing 5-7 to Kokstad Junior.
In their last game against Clifton on Wednesday, the boys put up a valiant effort but unfortunately lost with a score of 24-10.
𝙄𝙩’𝙨 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙝 𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙙𝙞𝙙 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙖𝙘𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙧𝙚𝙛𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙜𝙖𝙢𝙚.
Throughout the tour, the boys enjoyed various exciting activities, including visits to uShaka Marine World, Gateway Mall and the highlight of the tour, a visit to the Kings Park Rugby Stadium to explore the facilities on a stadium tour.
