Hoërskool Pearson High School in Gqeberha hosted its 16th annual 𝗖𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗞𝗘𝗧 𝗙𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗔𝗟 over the past weekend.
The 2024 edition once again saw some of the top cricket-playing schools in the province in action.
1st T20 Match:
- Venue: Old Gray (due to weather conditions)
- Teams: Union High School vs Wynburg High School
- Wynburg High School batted first and scored 177 runs.
- Union High School fell short in their chase, scoring 122 runs, resulting in a loss by 50 runs.
- Notable Performances:
- Leander Kraai: Quick 30 off 21 balls
- Leander Kraai also bowled 4 overs, taking 2 wickets for 24 runs.
2nd T20 Match:
- Teams: Despatch vs Union High School
- Despatch won the toss and chose to bat first, scoring 170 runs in their 20 overs.
- Union High School scored 163 runs in their innings, falling short by 7 runs.
- Result: Despatch won by 7 runs.
Declaration Game:
- Venue: Kariega
- Teams: Union High School vs Brandwag Hoer Skool
- Brandwag won the toss and sent Union High School in to bat first. Union scored 112-10 and 88-5.
- Brandwag chased down the target with scores of 164-9 and 40-0.
- Result: Brandwag won by 5 wickets using 5-day test rules.
- Notable Performance: Shaakir scored 58 runs, supported by Richard Murray.

- Union High School won the toss and chose to bowl. They bowled Otto Du Plessis out for 157 runs.
