Union High School’s 𝗨𝟭𝟯𝗔 cricketers enjoyed their last fixture of the year this past weekend, taking on a visiting Woodridge College & Preparatory School
On Friday evening, after winning the toss, Union batted first in a T20 encounter at the Botanics Sports Grounds, scoring 119 runs with Joubert Vorster leading the way with 53 runs off 36 balls.
In response, Woodridge was bowled out for just 30 runs, with Khwezi Molonga taking 4 wickets – including a hat-trick – and Ryonn Naude adding 3 wickets.
𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝘆 𝟴𝟵 𝗿𝘂𝗻𝘀, 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗱𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵.
In a 40-over encounter the following day, Union set a total of 109 runs, led by Jordan Maritz with 33 runs.
In a dominant bowling display, Union bowled out Woodridge for just 42 runs. Joubert Vorster and Ryonn Naude both took 3 wickets, while Aiden Ferreira contributed with 2 wickets.
𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝘆 𝟲𝟳 𝗿𝘂𝗻𝘀.
In an exciting T20 match this past Friday afternoon, Union High School’s 𝗨𝟭𝟭𝗔 cricket team faced a Woodridge College & Preparatory School side, with Union’s captain winning the toss and choosing to bowl.
This strategy paid off as they restricted Woodridge to just 89 runs, with Grant Murray taking key wickets.
𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝘆, 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝘆 𝟲 𝘄𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀.
The following day, the team took the field for a 35-over match. Woodridge batted first, setting a target of 147 runs.
