As the Awareness and Acceptance Club (AAC), we are committed to fostering an environment where learners feel safe discussing the challenges they face. These challenges may include Social Anxiety, Depression, Loneliness, or Acceptance, among others. By raising awareness about these issues, we aim to encourage open dialogue without fear of mockery.

Union High School, Graaff-Reinet’s Grade 7 learners put in a lot of extra effort to make their 𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗞𝗘𝗧 𝗗𝗔𝗬, which took place this morning, Tuesday, 20 August, a huge success.

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘦𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘴 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘌𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘤 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘚𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘊𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘶𝘮, 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘦 7𝘴 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘵 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘴.

Market Day involved creating an ‘open market’ atmosphere, where the entire school had an opportunity to purchase goods on sale from our budding Grade 7 entrepreneurs.

𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙞𝙣𝙫𝙤𝙡𝙫𝙚𝙨 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙖𝙙𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙪𝙙𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙛𝙞𝙩 𝙤𝙧 𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙨.

Items on sale included food and drinks, crafts, toys and novelty items, along with some fun activities such as spin-the-wheel, a boba stall and the ever popular sponge-throwing station.

Earlier today, on Monday, 19 August, Union High School, Graaff-Reinet proudly announced its 𝗡𝗘𝗪 𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗙𝗘𝗖𝗧 𝗕𝗢𝗗𝗬 for the upcoming academic year of 2024/25.

𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘥𝘺𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘤 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘱 𝘰𝘧 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘴, 𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘭 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺, 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺 𝘢 𝘱𝘪𝘷𝘰𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘳𝘰𝘭𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘨𝘶𝘪𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘱𝘦𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘶𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆, 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗹𝗽𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿, 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳: Muhammad Ahmed, Xavier Barlow, Farronique Booysen, Tara Ferreira, Erin Gedult, Trystan Hulleman, Sarah Jacobs, Shaakir Kazi, Kyle Liebenberg, Daniel Marais, Kenza Neill, Milano Pongoma, Ndodana Speelman, Aaminah Steele and Uyintando Ziswana.

As these young leaders step into their roles, we remind them of the words of John Quincy Adams: “𝘐𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦, 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦, 𝘥𝘰 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘢 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳.” This quote encapsulates the essence of leadership – the ability to inspire and uplift those around you.

With this new responsibility, the prefects are encouraged to serve the school with pride and dignity. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹, 𝗳𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲

As we draw the curtains on the 2nd annual Camdeboo Eisteddfod, we’d like to reflect on the extraordinary three days we’ve just experienced.

Days 1 and 2 were filled with a rich variety of musical performances – showcasing the immense talent of pianists, choirs, soloists and percussionists – delivering many unforgettable moments.

Day 3, as per usual, stood out as a visual feast – this day was dedicated to – among other items – the dynamic and expressive art of dance, featuring performers from various genres and drama groups that took center stage. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘴 𝘣𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘢 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦.

As we conclude this year’s Eisteddfod, 𝘄𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗳𝗲𝗹𝘁 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱.
