Attention everyone! Union High School, Graaff-Reinet will be hosting its Term 2 SANBS blood donation drive on Tuesday, 16 May.

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙪𝙗𝙡𝙞𝙘 𝙚𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙖 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚!

The donation process is quick, easy, and safe. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘈𝘕𝘉𝘚 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘮 𝘰𝘧 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘥 𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘳𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴. All blood types are needed, so whether you are a first-time donor or a regular donor, your contribution is vital and appreciated.

𝗣𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗘 𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗞 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗥𝗦 and join us in the Union High School Hall between 14:00 and 18:00 on the afternoon of the 16th. Let’s come together and make a difference! Don’t forget to spread the word to your friends and family, and we’ll see you there.

𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗟𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 to senior chess players 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗲 and 𝗝𝗮𝘀𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗔𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗲 who both achieved excellent results during the second of three trial events hosted by the Sarah Baartman District Chess Union on 1 April at the Fountains Mall in Jeffreys Bay.

Jasmine was placed 2nd in the u/16 Girls’ section and received a silver medal.

Neelon was placed 3rd in the u/16 Boy’s section and received a bronze medal.

𝘞𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘩!

[The three-trial qualifier will be followed by a closed tournament, to which selected players will be invited. A district team will then be chosen for the provincial chess tournament later this year.

In addition to playing a minimum number of games, players must participate in at least two of the three trials taking place in Kouga, and obtain a score of 50 percent or more in each, to be invited to the final closer.]

𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲-𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗲!

Union High School, Graaff-Reinet’s 2023 primary department stage production, 𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗟𝗘𝗗, will run in the school hall on Thursday and Friday, 4 and 5 May.

Based on the 2010 Disney animation, Tangled is a re-telling of the classic fairytale, Rapunzel. Described as an “adventure musical” that takes Rapunzel and her “rescuer” Flynn Rider from a lonely tower in the woods, to the raucous Snuggly Duckling Pub, and to the distant Kingdom, where Rapunzel and Flynn finally find home.

The temperature’s dropping, and our learners will be required to be in full winter uniform from the 2nd of May.

With this in mind, Union is very excited to announce that we have introduced a new ‘winter look’ for our Grade 5 to 12 girls. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙠𝙞𝙧𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙡 𝙩𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨 – as seen here being worn by head prefects Brigette Oelofsen and Caitrin Spence – 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙗𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙣 𝙖𝙨 𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙨.

Skin care – the 𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗦 way!

Union High School, Graaff-Reinet would like to extend a massive 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗗 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗞𝗦 to Mrs Corli Schoeman of Alchemy Skin & Body as well as 𝗥𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 for gifting our 1st Junior hockey team with a skincare parcel this week.

𝘞𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘦𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘢 𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵, 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘰𝘯’𝘴 𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘭, 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘪𝘳𝘭𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳.

Our 2023 1st Junior hockey girls are a dynamic, enthusiastic and talented set of girls who are dedicated to their practices and committed to seeing their team succeed. They, therefore, put in a lot of hours each week to ensure that they are competition-ready when the time comes.

With the Karoo sun being what it is, and the girls’ increased exposure to it, 𝙬𝙚’𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙤 𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝘼𝙡𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙢𝙮 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙨𝙪𝙣 𝙨𝙖𝙛𝙚𝙩𝙮 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙙.

Because the 𝗥𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 range is fun (who doesn’t like an instant foamy face wash!?) and practical to use, our girls can now easily have a skin care routine that helps them glow up!
