Tennis is a core sport and is played by many learners at the School. Our top teams compete at high levels in both local leagues and inter-school fixtures. Tennis is divided into Junior and Senior Sections.

Born to Play Tennis Academy, led by the dynamic duo Tiaan and Lente Mostert, will be taking over the reins of our tennis programme, catering to players from u/10 level all the way through to our senior first teams.

The Junior Tennis year begins with the annual Graaff-Reinet and Districts Tennis Trials where many of our leaners are selected to participate in the Eastern Province Country Districts Trials. Our boys and girls play fixtures against many of the surrounding schools, such as Gill, Karel Theron, Collegiate and Cradock. The Top 6 girls and boys enjoy professional coaching on a weekly basis. They attend the Match Point Tennis Academy and this certainly impacts most positively on their progress.

We also participate in the annual Jocelyn Marais Invitational Tournament and the highlight of the year is always the annual Interschools clash against Volkskool. The annual School Championships traditionally take place during the 3rd and 4th Terms.

The Senior Tennis year also begins with the Graaff-Reinet and District trials which are held on the first Saturday of the school year. During the first term, the boys and girls compete in the Wednesday afternoon Graaff-Reinet Summer League, playing in two sections. A Summer Interschools week is also held, and the top 8 boys travel to Bloemfontein during the first weekend in March where they participate in the annual Clover Sports Festival hosted by Fichardt Park High School.

While rugby takes precedence during the winter, the tennis players keep their hand in by competing in the local Menโ€™s Winter League. Matches are played against Wheatlands, Mountain, Nieu-Bethesda and Botanics clubs and our boys learn a great deal about strategic doubles play. Our 1st boysโ€™ and girlsโ€™ teams also participate in the Marco Wasserman Tournament in Middelburg during the 3rd term.

The Settlers and Quadrqngular Cup played in Makhanda against Graeme College, St Andrew's, Kingswood College, Victoria Girls and the Diocesan School for Girls is another highlight and is played at the start of the school year.
